&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; <a class=\"button-primary btn btn-color-1 btn-small btn-pill btn-border btn-border-thin btn-border-color-2 btn btn-color-1 btn-small btn-pill btn-border btn-border-thin btn-border-color-2\" style=\"font-size: medium;\" href=\"https:\/\/bctgm.org\/scholarship\/child-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Child Application<\/a><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color\">The International Union will deposit a one-time sum of $5,000 for each scholarship winner with the accredited college, recognized technical or vocational post-secondary school at which the award winner is registered and\/or is attending.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color\" style=\"color: #20afde;\"><strong>Eligibility for Competition<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\"><strong>An applicant must be either:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><!-- wp:list-item -->\r\n<li>A Member of the BCTGM in good standing, or<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:list-item -->\r\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>The son, daughter, stepchild, legally adopted child or under the guardianship of a BCTGM Member is good standing, or the child of a deceased BCTGM Member who had at least five years of membership.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\r\n<p class=\"\"><strong>In addition, applicants must be either:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><!-- wp:list-item -->\r\n<li><strong><em>High School Students<\/em><\/strong> planning to enter college, or a recognized technical or vocational post-secondary school for the first time following their graduation during 2027, or<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:list-item -->\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong><em>High School Graduates<\/em><\/strong> who have never attended college or a recognized technical or vocational school.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<!-- \/wp:list-item --> <strong>David B. Durkee Memorial Scholarship Program <em><strong>Academic Report Form<\/strong>.<\/em> This report should reflect the first semester grades for the senior year.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:list-item -->\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Essay<\/strong> \u2013 each applicant is required to write &amp; submit a 250 \u2013 500 word essay to demonstrate applicants ability to organize thoughts and express oneself.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\r\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Essay Topic:<\/strong> \u201c<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">How Organizing Labour, and BCTGM, has Impacted My Family and Community.<\/span>\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\">The purpose of this essay is not to provide a history of the labour movement, but to provide the Board of Judges with an opportunity to discover what you have learned about the labour movement\u2019s important contribution to our society and the impact the BCTGM Union has had on your family.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-link-color\" style=\"color: #20afde;\"><strong>Tests and Scores<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\">The David B. Durkee Memorial Scholarship does <strong><u>not<\/u><\/strong> require applicants to submit SAT, ACT or equivalent test scores.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Selections of Scholarship Recipients<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\">A Board of Judges shall choose the winners based upon their judgement of the scholastic records of the contestants, the quality of the essays submitted, and the replies contained in the \u201cPersonal Profile\u201d. The Judges shall select the most qualified applicants. <strong>One<\/strong> of those selected may be a Member of the BCTGM. The decisions of the Board of Judges shall be final.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"\"><strong><em>Announcement of the winners will be made during the month of May.<\/em><\/strong> Upon being notified that a Scholarship Award has been granted, the winner shall immediately notify the David B.
